As the temperature starts to dip, for many people the change can become a creature of comfort. How easy it is to make excuses not to hit the gym, indulge in sugary lattes and hang out on the couch under the warm glow of the television? This fall, don't let let that be you! Instead, follow this tips to get back on track for a healthy and wholesome season.
Tip 1: Eat your fruits and veggies
We've all heard it before, "eat your vegetables", and for good reason. Fruits and vegetables are high in volume but low in calories, with filling fibre to keep you feeling full. Incorporate as much produce into your diet as you can: try adding berries to your breakfast yogurt parfait, snacking on an apple or carrots mid-day and adding sides of veggies for dinner.
Tip 2: Sweat It Out
How many of us spend the greater part of our day sitting at a desk? Therefore, moving your body everyday should be a non-negotiable. This doesn't mean hitting the gym for hours after work. 30 minutes of movement, whether it be a walk, yoga class or weight lifting session, is a great place to start. You'll notice the positive impacts, both physically and mentally, immediately.
Tip 3: Snack Smart
The 3:00 pm slump can hit you hard and fast, so make sure you're prepared with a nutritious snack that will leave you feeling sustained, not sluggish or even worse - still hungry. Look for snacks that have a good amount of protein, fibre and healthy fats, like our granola blends.
Tip 4: Stay hydrated
Water needs to become your new drink of choice. Buy a water bottle that you can reuse and fill up throughout the day. Not only will the hydration be good for you skin and appetite, it will help to keep you feeling energized.
Tip 5: Cook for yourself
Dining out may seem like the easier choice, but by preparing your own meals, you give yourself full control over what goes in (and stays out) of your food.
